Moama Bowling Club
We recently collaborated with the Moama Bowling Club to develop a new outdoor entertainment area.
The project was part of their new multifunctional area - The Greens Precinct.
About Moama Bowling Club
Moama Bowling Club is the region’s premier sports and entertainment destination.
It’s located in central Moama and caters to locals, state, interstate and international guests. The club has four bars, three function areas, a cafe, a kids' club and a bistro that seats up to 320 guests. Its unique and sleek design sets the tone for an unforgettable visitor experience.
The team contacted us because they were expanding their offerings by creating a brand new greens area.
As part of The Greens Precinct, they wanted to create a new outdoor entertainment area for various event types. This new area needed to integrate aesthetically with the existing clubhouse.
The Goal
The overall goal was to design a new outdoor entertainment venue that comprised a bar and cooking facilities and could host outdoor functions. This design would enhance the club's appeal and functionality, creating additional space for functions that would appeal to members and visitors.
Because the new space needed to accommodate various uses, we needed an innovative and unique design. Something that didn’t feel like a traditional bowling facility.
The Challenge
The project presented several challenges.

As a space that various groups would use, the design approach had to be done with multi-purpose in mind.

The client was looking for something practical but also striking.
The design required a maintenance shed set up - but still needed to be visually appealing. It also needed to tie in with the large-scale design of the existing greens pavilion.

Because we were working with such an open space, the design also needed to consider the natural elements, such as wind.
The Solution
We employed our full-service model to plan and execute the entire project from start to finish.
Our design incorporated open-air spaces that could adapt to various groups while maintaining architectural harmony with the clubhouse. We also addressed the environmental challenges by mitigating wind impact.
We regularly communicated with the team to integrate their feedback and ensure everything ran on time and within budget.
Founder of EDG, Alastair McDonald says, "Our goal was to create a space that wasn't just functional but also a signature aspect of the club. Something that would give the club more options for hosting functions and attracting customers".
The Result
The new outdoor entertaining area has significantly boosted the club's functionality and aesthetic appeal.

The design's flexibility and integration have been well-received by members and guests, contributing to an uptick in event bookings and social gatherings.

Simon Griffin, Corporate Services Manager of the Moama Bowling Club, said that members' feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
“We specifically sought a local design team that we knew could create a modern and practical building that suited our needs. EDG was easy to work with, and they collaborated with local builders that we knew and trusted.
They listened to our brief and gave us plenty of well-thought-out solutions. Their ideas were instrumental in transforming our vision into reality. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality were clear throughout the project.
I'd recommend EDG to any club looking to implement a similar project. They work closely with you to really understand your needs and provide solutions that aren’t just practical but also visually compelling."
